The government has revealed plans to turn every school into an academy by 2020. The difference between these is that academies are free to set their own curriculum and decide their own staff pay and conditions, as well as receive funding from central government and other voluntary and faith groups.
Thanks to the control that academies have over their establishment and the way they carry out their education, they tend to provide a higher standard of test results at the end of the academic year. The results have also been found to improve twice as fast as other schools. It’s not the end for free schools just yet though; David Cameron has vowed he will commit to his plans for them in the future.
